Sodium Bicarbonate Injection, USP, is a sterile, nonpyrogenic, hypertonic solution containing sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO3) dissolved in water for injection. This solution is intended for intravenous administration as an electrolyte replenisher and systemic alkalizer. It helps to restore the body’s acid-base balance by neutralizing excess acids, which is crucial in treating conditions such as metabolic acidosis, severe bicarbonate loss, and certain drug overdoses.

The product is packaged in a glass vial with a brown cap, offering a protective barrier to light and ensuring that the solution remains stable during storage. Since the solution contains no bacteriostat, antimicrobial agent, or added buffer, it is specifically designed to be used once and discarded after administration, reducing the risk of contamination.
